We started this blog in the summer of 2013. Well, that’s not totally true because Emily’s been toying with starting a blog for a few years. She started spending a lot of time doing online research due to her recent diagnosis with multiple autoimmune diseases. In order to organize and share her plethora of information, she decided that a blog would be a good way to go. Since we do so much of life together, we thought it was only natural that we would work on this as a family and expand it to share our faith, health and nutritional information, recipes, educational ideas, and thoughts about life in general. So, out of Emily’s research and our desire to write about our lives, “Life On Sixth Street” was born.
So, how did we come up with the name? Well, a little red-bricked house on Sixth Street is where we have lived for almost 35 years. When Becky married Gary, they bought the house next door, keeping our family all together on Sixth Street. Now, their kids actually ride bikes and run and play on the same road we did as children. If you were to look for Sixth Street, you would find it in a tiny, spot-in-the-road town in western Oklahoma. We’re talking population of 300, with dogs, cats, and livestock outnumbering the people.
We hope you enjoy, and maybe even learn from, our musings and flights of fancy.
It’s pretty quiet here, but we like it.
Welcome to “Life On Sixth Street”. For us, this is where life happens.
