Becky is the oldest sister and has been married to her husband Gary for 18 years. They were high school sweethearts and got married in 2000, a few months after graduating from high school. After staying home for a year, Becky decided to start working on her college degree, but after finishing only a semester, she took 8 months off to stay home with their little surprise named Alex. She did go on to graduate from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with an English Education degree in 2006. With their second child, Audrey, being born in 2007, Becky was privileged enough to be a stay-at-home mommy until Audrey started pre-school. To get her foot in the door of one of the local school districts, Becky took a job as a teacher’s assistant in the special education department, which led to her teaching an elementary technology class in early 2013. After teaching for less than a year and her class being cut at the end of the school year, Becky decided to go back to being a teacher’s assistant in order to have less stress and more time for family, reading, and writing. She really enjoyed spending time with her high school special needs students and also getting to come home to her own kids without the paperwork and stress of being a lead teacher. Currently, she is staying at home with their third child, Addison, and is busier than ever keeping up with the house, the kids, and finding time to write and blog.
Gary works in a nearby city’s water department, where he maintains the city’s water lines. In his spare time, he likes to fish, use his smoker to cook a variety of meats for family dinners, be “Mr. Fix-It” for everyone in the family, and spend time with Alex and Audrey. Alex is an 11th grader who loves building and playing with computers and getting to tackle guys in football. He’s like his father in that he has always been an outdoorsy, tough guy, but has a loving, emotional side that shows itself when needed. Audrey is a 6th grader who is an artist in training, loves to read, and is a creative, compassionate person. Addison is 4 years old and super smart and spunky and loves hanging out with her family. In Becky’s spare time, she likes to blog, read, watch movies, spend time with family, and taste-test her mother and husband’s divine cooking.
Becky’s Favorite Book:
I cannot simply answer this question. I know it sounded like a fairly easy question when you read it, but for me, picking a favorite book is sort of like picking a favorite child. Books have held such importance to me and there’s so many of them that have such good qualities, as well as have brought me joy, that it is hard to chose. I have never been too much of a social person, and ever since I was a child books have brought me companionship and allowed me to travel to places that our meager budget would never afford.
The Bible would have to be my clear-cut answer to this question because it is the basis for everything that my family says, does, and is. We are sure not perfect, but we try to base our life on Biblical truths.
I have such a love for fiction, though, and that is what I wanted to share here. But even with fiction, I could not narrow it down to just one book, because currently my favorite story is a series of 4 books and is entitled the Twilight series. Perhaps you’ve heard of it. My experience with discussing Twilight amongst friends and colleagues is either that you are obsessed with it (as I am) or you despise all things related to it (which I cannot comprehend, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that). Becky’s Favorite Supper Recipe:
Award Winning Chicken would probably be one of my favorite things to eat. It consists of boneless chicken breast and an Italian style sour cream sauce poured over your choice of pasta or rice. (I choose pasta every time.) I am not much of a cook and I think it’s a pretty easy recipe. Find it HERE.
Becky’s Favorite Dessert Recipe:
Although I pretty much love anything chocolate, I can never turn down my father-in-law’s homemade Butterfinger ice cream. This ice cream recipe is one of my family’s favorite things to make, especially for birthday parties.
